Moi Nothokar Anubhav
After the legend Zubeen Garg's untimely demise, I was intently listening to all his songs. This particular song, seemed to have manifested the idea that 'Xobdoi Brohmo'. Every word in the song carries an energy and vitality that touches one's soul.
Hazrat Bedam Shah Warsi's kalam Balaghal Ula Be Kamalihi is a graceful union of multiple kalaams that generates an aura of spiritual awareness performed by the music maestro Abida Parveen. It was ecstasy expressed as teardrops.
Mai ke Anadar is my song sung by me during last Chhat puja. Penned by Ashok Shivpuri, the song talks about how leaving our own parents in Bridhashram (old age home) and praying to chhath mata at the same time is ironical in this society.
Fatoumata Diawara's Fenfo: The acclaimed Malian singer-songwriter and actress, and specifically her second solo album, Fenfo (Something to Say), released in 2018, which received Grammy nominations and celebrates African culture and youth. This african artist mesmerises me. She brings her culture to the main stage and announce her identity with pride. I am doing Folk Ecstasy at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. While practising my songs, somehow I came across the music of this African artist and was inspired.
Dil Dhadakne ka Sabab yaad aaya, a ghazal by Nurjehan
Her romantic and critical complicated note renditions inspired me so much that I am paying a tribute to her by singing her age-old ghazals.
