HOPE (Helping out people everywhere) and WWF –India, jointly organized an awareness event on bird conservation at Tezpur during 15th & 16th February 2014. The program was organized on account of BIG BIRD DAY 2014 celebrated globally to keep track of birds and their respective habitats. There were bird counting, identification and discussion on conservation issues of habitats at Sonitpur during the event. Bird lovers, students from various schools and colleges participated in the bid to create awareness among the masses.
As a part of the program a nature orientation workshop was organized at District Library Auditorium, Tezpur to create mass awareness on conservation of birds and their habitats.
On 16th February 2014, a field exposure event on bird watching, identification and conservation was held at Hazara-pukhuri, Tezpur with participation from students of various schools and bird lovers. This was the first of its kind event in Tezpur to keep track of local and visitor birds of Tezpur. The findings of the effort will be submitted to the National Big Bird Day Council headed by Mr.Vikram Garewal.
