FLO Northeast Chapter celebrated their 6th annual day and Change of Guard Ceremony recently. FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) is a national body with the prime objective of women empowerment through the promotion of entrepreneurship and managerial excellence. Established in 1983, FLO is a division of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), which is the apex body of Industry and Chambers of Commerce in India.
Over the last 29 years of FLO’s existence it has grown as an organization and today it is one of the most prestigious pan-India business organizations with 10 chapters and nearly 3200 members across India, committed to working towards women empowerment through business women development and capacity building initiatives besides other programmes.
They also honoured women achievers of Northeast India on the occasion. The outstanding women who were felicitated included Sudakshina Sarma from Assam, Padmashree Bertha Dkhar from Meghalaya, Binalakshmi Nepram from Manipur, Monalisa Changkija from Nagaland and Nellie Ahmed Tanveer from Assam.
Chairperson, FLO, Northeast Chapter, Monisha Baruwa felicitated Chief guest Dr Mridul Hazarika, vice-chancellor of Gauhati University and Guest of Honour Malvika Rai, Past President of FICCI Ladies Organisation.
In her speech, Baruwa mentioned the feats achieved during her tenure. She organised 20 events during her tenure and the membership growth was 57%. The chapter was awarded the best chapter 2013-14, best accounting system, best advocacy policy and best communication. FLO member Pronita Baruva was IWEC awardee of 2013-14 at Lima, Peru. Members Jahnabi Phookan and Tanushree Hazarika was among the 30 FLO Pan India members to be felicitated by FLO Headquarters. Weaver Anuradha Pegu was a selected as a successful grassroot story and felicitated by the FLO headquarters. There were a total of eight awards during her tenure. Past Chairpersons of FLO Notheast Chapter Lalita Jain, Jahnabi Phookan, Saroj Khemka and Queen Oja were felicitated by Malvika Rai and Namita Gautam (both past presidents of FLO) for their contributions towards the chapter.
The FLO Coffee table Book was released to commemorate 30 years of FLO. The Flo Northeast Chapter annual report was also released on the occasion.
The awardees were jointly felicitated by chief guest and guest of honour. Baruwa handed over the baton to the new Chairperson of FLO Smita Agarwal.
