Assamese scribe win award

Ayushman Baruah receives 15th annual PoleStar award. PoleStar Foundation instituted the PoleStar Award in 1998 to celebrate excellence in IT and Business journalism.

Baruah started his journalism career in The Shillong Times back in 2004 while he was doing his graduation in Media Technologies. After completing his graduation, he went on to pursue his Masters in Communications from Commits Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication in Bangalore. After that, he worked with reputed publications such as The Financial Express from the Indian Express group, during which he wrote several trend-setting news and features about the IT industry in India.

Baruah is currently based in Bangalore and works as the Principal Correspondent with InformationWeek magazine. His winning article titled Healthcare industry prescribing a dose of technology talks about how Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences companies are increasingly adopting technology to optimize cost and ensure better health services. Baruah won the award in the highly respected Jury’s Special Mentioncategory.

PoleStar Foundation instituted the PoleStar Award in 1998 to celebrate excellence in IT and Business journalism. The foundation, through its annual awards, pays tribute to the media citizens' contribution, for their commitment to the nation and its people, and also for tirelessly acting as a catalyst in disseminating quality information to the world.

The awards ceremony also included a panel discussion on the topic - ‘Are standards being compromised in journalism today?’ moderated by Govindraj Ethiraj, founder-Editor of Ping Digital Network. The panel featured thought leaders and eminent personalities from both media and corporate houses

an alumnus of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, has won the prestigious 15th annual PoleStar Awards in a grand awards ceremony held in ITC Sheraton Park Hotel, Chennai recently. The chief guest for the occasion was R. Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director, Tata Sons. The PoleStar Awards is arguably the highest award in journalism as far as business and technology journalism is concerned.
