Farhan for children

PALLAVI CHUMKI BARUA narrates how Farhan Akhtar spent time with children in Guwahati

It was just Farhan Akhtar on my mind for last twenty days or so as I was involved in the promotion of his visit. So when Farhan Akhtar looking drop dead handsome in a black suit with white shirt teamed with a black tie finally walked on to the stage of ITA Machkhowa for the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2014, I skipped not one but several beats in my heart. Without doubt the No 1 Multi-Talented Star in Bollywood during his interaction with the audience kept us roaring through his witty narratives of his life starting with his "Adi (Chopra) please give me a job otherwise my Mom has threatened to throw me out of the house" and he was given the job of the 9th AD in Lamhe.

Later in the evening, our excitement had no bounds when Farhan Akhtar came along with Rahul Bose, Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri for the Charity Dinner hosted by Eclectic Publication in aid of UTSAH at Hotel Nakshatra. The proceeds from the dinner coupons would sponsor the underprevileged kids school education at UTSAH Child Protection Centre. This dinner was attended by about 150 guests who came to be a part of this Celebrity event with a cause. The moment Farhan walked in, and the DJ welcomed him with his signature tune from 'Rock on', the gathering went ecstatic. As the Co-Founder of UTSAH I felicitated Farhan and I felt so humbled and giddily happy when he recognised me from the afternoon interaction and exclaimed 'Aha the girl with the Crazy Question'.

The UTSAH children demonstrated their talents through two heart warming dance numbers. It was really overwhelming to see Farhan beam with joy and amazement at children's performances. And for us and the rest of the guests it became a moment to remember. These otherwise underprivileged children where made to feel so privileged by his touch that I am sure they will remember the love bestowed by their 'Milkha Singh' as the children referred to him as for all times to come. Last of all came the concert and I was looking forward to a wonderful evening as a finale of his visit but Farhan Akhtar is always full of surprises and to describe what he gave us I would require the highest form of superlative of the word Wonderful.

His captivatingly distinct husky musical voice kept pulsating through every inch of the venue and the way he kept on grooving, dancing, jumping, leaping, springing throughout his performance and yet singing all the tunes to perfection without a quiver was amazingly fascinating. This exhilarating energy which he radiated from the stage transported all of us to a state of euphoria. The audience ranged from 10 to 70 years and he kept one and all enthralled. Farhan would bid us a good bye and leave the stage and then he would come back again and again to give us more and more of him till were all exhausted with our minds dizzy and bodies tired and giving up but our hearts wanting for more and more of Farhan.
