Poem 99

Mizo poet Lalnunsanga Ralte aka Sanga on heartbreak

Have you ever heard
The sound of a heart breaking?
Listen,
closely,
closer.
For it is quiet,
As quiet as leaves falling, a spider spinning.
As fragile,
Softly,
Softer.
It is the steps of Hosea
On the desert sands searching
In anguish.
Drearily,
Drearer.
It is the resolution of a sparrow,
To not open its wings, crashing
On to forest floors.
Lonely,
Lonelier.
It is the letters
Of a verse made instead of crying
Screams in bold,
Love!
Lover!

Listen,
Listen.
